Top priorities for this position:

  • Manage the talent acquisition process to effectively source, interview, hire and onboard talent.
  • Create and manage an employee engagement program.
  • Coordinate the annual performance management process including training, coaching and process improvements.
  • Support the development of internal talent by designing and conducting training programs.
  • Collaborate with hiring managers to work through employee relations issues.
  • Define processes and reporting needs utilizing the human resource information system including applicant tracking and employee data management
  • Administer employee benefit programs including the open enrollment process.
  • Maintain and file reports to comply with federal, state and local employment and benefits laws and regulations.
  • Lead the employee event committee and organize employee quarterly meetings, social and charitable events.

 

Position Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field required
  • 5-7 years of HR Generalist or related experience required
  • Experience in a manufacturing, construction or related environment preferred

 

Skills & Competencies:

  • Understanding of and experience with the core areas of Human Resources including talent acquisition, employee engagement, employee relations, labor relations, employment law, performance management, training and development, compensation, benefits and HRIS
  • Proficiency with Microsoft office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
  • Experience with HRIS systems (including Applicant Tracking Systems)
  • Ability to develop and build credible relationships with business partners and all levels of the organization while utilizing a consultative style and approach
  • Strong sense of accountability for results; willingness to take initiative and solve problems
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven ability to influence decision making
  • Courage to make tough decisions and deliver difficult messages with professionalism and poise
  • High level of organization, time management and self-motivation

Commercial Glazing Project Manager / Estimator

As a project manager / estimator, you’ll oversee every detail of commercial glass installations from beginning to end. Put your construction background and project management skills to work at Minneapolis Glass Company (established 1937), a fast-growing local firm. Work with the largest general contractors as well as specialty architecture and custom commercial builders.

  1. Get creative! Work with a team of designer/drafters, analyze drawings and material take off.
  2. Show us the Money! From MTO, create bill of materials and estimate costs and resources needed for successful completion of the design.

To be a successful Project Manager / Estimator at Minneapolis Glass Company, you’ll need:

  • Project management experience
  • Blueprint reading skills
  • Understanding of commercial construction
  • Strong computer skills including computer-aided drafting, Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Experience with material take off
  • Successful estimating and purchasing experience
  • Ability to create and manage a project timeline and budget
  • Skill in open and timely communication with team members and subcontractors on each project
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • React to changing business needs; be creative and change gears with each unique project
  • Manage team contributions of designers, vendors, fabricators, installers and other key players
  • Effectively report to and communicate with your team and your managers
  • Work independently, while also being a successful team player
  • Use established business processes and software (the Microsoft suite) to achieve and track progress and results
  • Two- to four-year degree in construction management
  • Valid driver’s license and driving record in good standing
